MENACE IN AUSTRALIA

CONCERN OF EMPLOYERS

DESIRABLENESS OF DISCUSSIONS.

(HNITBD PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIRIGBt.)

(Received 17th August, 10 a;m.)

SYDNEY, This Day.

The Employers' Federation Conference adopted a resolution urging the Federal and State Governments to amend the existing system of arbitration, which is declared to be responsible for overlapping jurisdiction, and to confine the Federal Court to purely Federal industries, such as shipping and shearing. After condemning excessive taxation, which was stated to be inimical to the development of industry, the conference ended.

At a dinner to the delegates, the keynote of the speeches on all sides was the menace of industrial unrest and the desirableness of employers and employees meeting at round-the-table conferences to discuss grievances.
