CITIZENS 1' BALL.

The conynitteo responsible for the citizens plain and,, fancy drrss ball have made complete arrangements for a very fine entertainment at the Town Hall tomorrow night. Special music will be a feature, and as the prices are fixed on a very low scale, a great crowd should be m attendance. WELLINGTON COMPETITIONS.

The sixth, annual festival of the Wellington Competitions Society will commence at the Town Hall on Saturday 26th August. SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.

Yet ; another-pleasing concert was tendered to seafarers at the Sailors' Friend Society last evening, Mrs. J. C. Montgomery being the hostess. The performers were Mesdames Fortune and Montgomery, Miss Phyllis Adams, and Messrs Allen' and M'Cullough. Mrs: Fortune was at the piano. The competitions took a novel turn, the prizes coming from th« hostess, and Hill street. After a keen fight they went to the Armagh and mcii in port.

Last night saw an excellent attendance at the Ambassador, where the visiting members of tho New South Wales Rugby team were entertained.
