STRAND THEATRE.
The chief attraction on the new double programme which commenced at the Strand Theatre this morning, is Mary Pickford's latest starring article, "Suds," wliich shows the star in an entirely newrole. "Suds" might well be termed "The Tale of a Shirt." for the scenes are all laid in a little laundry in Uie slums of '■■ London, and Miss Pickford weaves such a romance about a shirt which has been left by a casual customer that even her girl chums believe it as much as herself. "Tangled Threads," the supporting feature, stars Bessie Barriscale, and is one of the most delightful stories the screen has shown. It is rich in heart interest and it carries a powerful theme based, upon the eternal triaugle. But aside from its strong dramntic plot, it offers a tromendous appeal in the love of a mother for her child. Sh« goes through everything for him, and suffnvs the misery of losing her husband's affection. The. dramatic element of the picture are rich in contrast and conflict, ana 1 the mother-heart .is. revealed with considerable pathos. The supporting programme . ijncludea?'
