The sculling handicap wae won by Hadneld, of &ew Zealand. Th° race was rowed in heats, with the following results:— a
22=ee > 7seCi 3. second Heat! —Cobb, 42sec, 1; M^avitt, 13sec, 2; Paddon, scr. 3. Third Heat,-T. Saul, 17sec, 1; Goodsell, lOsec. 2: Ceruti 42 sec, 3 Final.—Hadfield, 1; Goodsell, 2 ; Ceruti, 3; T. Saul, 4. The race wns rowed in semi-darkness, and it was difficult from the official boat to discern one sculler from another After a very hard race Hadfield won fey two lerijrthß, amidst tumultuous applause Hadfield stated afterwards that he had an easy row over the first portion of the race, but the final stage was hard. iiad(ield was Inter farewelled' by the residents of Gladesville, and presented After his heat, Paddon broke down as a result of influenza, and had to be assisted from his boat. He did not participate in the final.
