ANOTHER TRADE MISSION
(IROH ODB OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
LONDON, 6th July. Colonel T. H. Hawkins, C.M.G., Assistant General Manager of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, who has recently returned from a trade mission to New Zealand, is convinced that the next step towards stimulating direct trade between the Dominion and Liverpool must be taken by Liverpool merchants themselves. His opinion is evidently shared by at least one firm. This is Messrs. Bannatyne and Co., butter and cheese importers, who intend to send Mr. Hugh P. Bannatyne out to New Zealand in the near future to develop the firm's interests. Mr. Bannatyne, who will arrive at t!w» end of August, intends to make his headquarters in Auckland, and to get into touch with those in the dairy industry who are anxious to develop their trade in the Northern markets of Britain through the Port of Liverpool. Mr. Bannatyne's visit to New Zealand is an indicatidn of the determination of Liverpool to secure a greater share of the Dominion's dairy produce, and it is hoped that representatives of the meat and wool trade in Liverpool will follow the lead given by this dairy firm, and send their own men out for a tour.. ■
