TRAMWAY ACCIDENTS
(II lEi.IORAPB.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTOHURUH, 10th August. James Birss, a middle-aged man, was struck by a, tram this afternoon and lies in hospital in an unconscious condition. The nature of his injury has not yet been ascertained. Mrs. Gallagher, an elderly woman, residing at Lyttolton, stepped off the Sumner express tram this evening and was run over by the trailer. Her right leg was seriously injured. It is presumed that she was going to visit her son at Woolston, and on discovering that the tram passed through that suburb without stopping, jumped off. Her condition is grave.
