IS THERE RECKLESS DRIVING?
DOHERTZ CHARGED WITH MAN SLAUGHTER.
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 10th August, At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Thomas Doherty was -charged with manslaughter in xespect, to the death of Samuel James Cooke, killed in a collision) between Doherty's car and another car at Hills road, St. Albans, on loth July. Evidence was given that Doherty's speed was 30 to 35 miles. The Town Clerk gave evidence that before the fatality Doherty's certificate of ability to drive had been cancelled owing to his reckless driving. Accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
