Winds—Easterly, strong to gale, northward of East Cape and Kawhia; south-easterly, moderate to strong and squally at times, thence to Hokitika and Lyttelton; southerly elsewhere.
Barometer—Rising.
Seas—Considerable on all the eastern coast and in Cook Strait; rough off ahore elsewhere.
Tides—Good on all the eastern coast; low in Cook Strait; moderate elsewhere.
Warning signals for easterly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen and Tiritirt.
Weather—Cold and changeable generally ; unsettled and cloudy, with rain probable in the northern and east coast districts. A very cold night may be expected, with frosts inland, and hard frosts in the South. D. C. BATES.
