PROPOSED LEVY ON WOOL

A motion favouring the levying of 6d per bale on Avool sold in Australia was agreed to at the recent farmers' convention, at Hamilton, Victoria. It was urged that the funds so raised should be devoted to the protection and' development of the wool-growing industry. The motion was submitted to the quarterly meeting of the Chamber of Agriculture recently for consideration. The Chamber did 'not approve of the levy, but considered that an organisation should be formed to govern the marketing of Australian wool, and the development of the industry. M _ sw
