James Reynolds Hayne and Elizabeth Simpson Inglis pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully using 'an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage It took fifteen minutes to empanel a jury, Mr. Hanlon challenging twelve men and the Crown standing aade twenty-six.
