(II TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL TO THB POBI ) ■ CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. ( This morning's work at Riccarton did not provide much excitement. The outside course proper was open, but most of the_ fast work was confined to short sprints. While there was very little jumping, many horses who raced last Saturday were given light tasks. Gamecock, looking well, did two strong circuits on the sand track Fabrinade ran six furlongs in lmin. 22sec, going easily. Later on he came out again, and sprinted half- a mile with Ueramal, the time being 53 2-ssec Whipping Boy and the three-year-old \ leiypomt were well matched over half a mile, in 54 1-Ssec. Purple Spur, running the same distance, going alone; got through m 53sec—a smart gallop. Contempt beat Tiff over six furlongs' in lmin £1 3-ssec, finishing strongly. Omahu and Martulla went well in a working gallop oi one mile. Boadicea covered six- furlongs, the last four in i^sec. fane looks in great fettle. Matatua, Black Art, and Tinokaha jumped four hurdles.. Tinokaha ran about, and fell at the last obstacle. Black Art .then pulled off, and Matatua, alone, jumped four more hurdles, giving a good display, as did Black Art. Jazz went well over seven furlongs with a mate.

Oakleigh strode out freely over about two miles, while Poanui and Peter Amans also got through useful tasks. Rowan covered a mile at a sound pace. Kukume beat Barmaid and Paddington Green over seven furlongs in Imm 41 2-ssec. Will Oakland rah six furlongs atone in lmin 24sec, moving in the best style. Orange Bitters and Romance jumped the country safely, but the pace was slow. Ked Gown went well while jumping four hurdles with a mate. Prince Ferouz, Sunny Loch, and Some Kid finished in that order aft.er doing six furlongs m lmin 23sec. ■■••■■'
