BY FEDERATION OF LABOUR.
NEW YORK, 4th August. i Mr. S. GonijJers, president of the Am- jerican Federation of Labour, summoned f thirty-five representative Labour lead- X ers, who issued a joint declaration which [5 concludes: "We proffer to the new Pre- !i sident our whole-hearted consideration | v and co-operation in all that goes to the : upbuilding of the country and the wel- ~ fare of the people. We welcome the man , who comes to take up the fallen mantle. ' We bow in grief arid reverence before the bier of our fallen President. We of- j fer our services* thoiight, arid strength C to our Government under him, who is fl now called to assume the commanding !' p'ofet of duty and service." I This declaration is deemed especially conciliatory, because tabsur generally ' deplores Mr. Coolidge's use of troop's ; in the 1919 police strike, which market i his political emergence. ~ j
