GISBORNE, 4th August. The Poverty Bay Hunt Club's Annual Meeting was held in fine weather, and the course was in good order. The totalisator returns were £10,623, ,as compared with £6845 last year, arfciucrease of £3778. Results:— 3
Hunters' Hurdles, of 600 soys; one mile and -a half.—Buckeye, 10.7, 1 ; Garzon, 10.7, 2; Patetonga, 11.4, 3. Scratched: Heather Queen. Won by two lengths. Time, 2min 53sec.
. Handicap Trot, of 60 soys; one mile and a quarter.—Alice L., 48yds bhd, 1; Miss Marvin, 12yds bhd, 2; Peter Dean, 72yds bhd, 3. Scratched : Peterwah, Medway, Jean Darling. Won by a nose. Time, 3min lseo.
Hexton Handicap, of 85 soya; one mile and a quarter.—Golden Light, 11.3, 4; Westerner, 9.3, 2; Martini, 9.11 3. Scratched: White Hope, Koodoo. Won bj a length. Time, 2min 14secA Hunters' Bracelet, of 45 soys; one mile.—Many Colours, 11.5, 1- Birka 11.0, 2; Sweet Heather, 12.13, 3! Scratched: Oak R ose , Patetonga, Aurore. Won by a neck. Time, 2min plsec.
Hunt Club Steeples, of 100 soys; two miles and a half.—Tarakete. 10.7, 1 j Hau Hau, 10.7, 2; Heatherform 10.7 3 Also started.: Radio 10.13, San Toy 10 7 San Toy and Radio felL San Toy was remounted and fell a second time. Heatherform, remounted, also fell a second time, but was remounted by the owner, and completed the course. Won by,' three lengths, with the third horse ten lengths back. Time, smin 50Eec.
