AMOUNT OF A FINE
Following on the decision of Mr. E. Paco, S.M.. that Philip Tossman, of Panama 6treet, should be • convicted on tho charjro of carrying on business as a bookmaker, which had been preferred against him, the Magistrate decided this morning at the Police Court that the amount of the fine should be £75. It was suKfiested by Chief-Detective Kemp that the accused had carried on a largo business, but this statement was denied by Mr. H. F. O'Leary. counsel for the defendant. A charge against a brother of tlio accused, Benjamin Tossman, of boing found on the premises of a common 'gaming house, was dismissed.
