CAUSE OF SUMATRA'S LOSS
COMMISSION ATTACHES NO •BLAME, (UNITED PRBBS ASSOCIATION.— COPIMOHT.I MELBOURNE, 3rd August. The Royal Commission's report into the loss of the Sumatra has been put on the table in the House of Representatives. It states that exceptionally heavy gales overtook the vessel north of Tacking Point, and most probably the Sumatra shipped a succession of heavy seas, which overwhelmed her. Tho report further states that the vessel was properly manned, adequately provided with life-saving appliances, and left Sydney in good, seaworthy condition. The cargo was safe and properly stowed, and i the vessel not overloaded. The report concludes that no blame was attached to anyone. _ .
