A striking demonstration of the widespread a.nd practical sympathy with the work of the, Plunket Society in Auckland was affprded by reports presented at the meeting last evening of the executive of the Citizens' Committee, which has undertaken a campaign to rai6a £15,000 for the establishment of a Karitane Hospital and for the maintenance of district work by Plunket nurses. Preparations for a comprehensive a,PPeal to the public have been virtually completed, but before it has been actually madej subscriptions amounting to £4100 have been made to the fund. Among the donors arc: Messrs. Wilson and Horton, £500; Messrs.. J. Court. Ltd., £300; South British Insurance Co.. £300; Mr. and Mrs. J. p. Ewen £250; Northern Roller Milling Co.. £260; Dr. and Mrs. W. H. Pnrkes, £150; Dr. Sidney Allen, £150; Mr. and Mrs. R. A. • Laidlaw. £150; Messrs. Wins tone, Ltd., £150. Then follow nineteon donations of £100 each, including one from Dr. and Mrs. Truby King.
