PARAMOUNT AND ARTCRAFT.
An interesting and well-staged picture entitled "Lights of New York" is screening at the Paramount and Artcraft Theatres for the last time to-day. The plot is a delightful one, showing where the seamy side of New York life rubs shoulders with its aristocrats, and ending with a phenomenal climax. The cast is a notable one, and includes many cf America's greatest players. The second feature is "Snow Drift," -which contains many thrilling situations and an unusual conclusion. The remaining pictures have been specially selected. " FOR BIG STAKES." The change of programme to-morrow at the Paramount and Artcraft Theatres will give Wellington picture-lovers a further opportunity to sea a popular favourite in " For Big Stakes," a Tom Mix masterpiece, filled with many thrill- ' ing situations. Many of the scenes contain varied action and gripping drama, while the surprises are frequent. Mix does one thing especially--—riding through a prairie fire—which, it is declared, will cause the heart-beats to increase materially. Pretty Patsy Ruth Miller plays opposite to Tom Mix. The second feature stars John Gilbert in " Calvert's Valley," a story by Margaret Prescott Mont-ague, in which the elements of mystesy, adventure, and romance ara said to be skilfully blended. Special music will be heard at both theatres.
