CHRISTCHURCH, Ist August. The yarding of fat cattle ,was smaller to-day, and there was a decided improvement in values. Fat sheep also firmed in price. Store Sheep.—A big yarding for winter, and a keen sale, notwithstanding the bulk of the entry being of indifferent class. Four and 6-tooth halfbred ewes realised 42s 6d, 4, 6, and 8-tooth crossbred ewes 38s 9d to 28s lOd, sound failing-mouth ewes 28s to 36s 4d, aged halfbred ewes 28s to 295, ' aged crossbred ewes 19s 6d to 26s 4d, 4 and 6-tooth crossbred wethers 35s 2d, 2 and 4-tooth halfbred wethers 31s 9d to 325, inferior 2 and 4-tooth halfbred wethers 2 ; 7s lid, small 2-tooth halfbred wethers 30s Id, three-quarterbred ewe hoggets 28s 3d, crossbred 26s 9d, good halfbred wether hoggets 27s Id, crossbred 22s lid to 245, three-quarterbred 23s 3d to 26s Id, mixed sex crossbred hoggets 23s lOd to 25s 3d.

Fat Sheep.—An average yarding and values were up by Is to 2s 6d per head. Fat Cattle.—A small yarding of 326 head and a jump up in values of from £2 to £2 5s per head on an average on last week. Extra prime beef made 40s per 1001b, prime 35s to 37s 6d, medium 30s to 345, light and unfinished 2os to 295, and rough 22s 6d down. Extra prime steers realised from £17 to £20 a few special £26 ss, prime £14 to £16 15s, medium £10 10s to £13 15s, lio-ht £7 to £10, extra prime heifers £12 to £13 os, prim© £9 to £11 10s, ordinary £o 10s to £8 10s, extra prime cows £ll 7s 6d, prime £8 to £10 10s, ordinary £5 las to £7 15s.
