REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES

The weekly meeting of the Wellington Football Association was held last evening, Mr. A. E. Wells presiding. There were also present :—Messrs. P. Banks, H. Godber, C. Webster, C. Dick, G. Aers, R. Weir, E. Edw-ards, H. Liversage, and A. Williams (hon. sec.) A transfer was granted C. J. Nash from Institute to Marist (second division). • .

The Waterside Club protested against an appointment as a junior representative selector one who had not had the opportunity of witnessing the games. The letter was received.

The question of arranging- a boys' representative match with Levin was referred to the boys' sub-committee. The Wairarapa Association, reporting on the arrangements for the second and fifth division representative matches with Wellington, stated that the date had been fixed for the 18th August. It had been decided to give the Wellington Association 50 per cent, of the net gate a 6 travelling expenses. Mr. H. Liversago was appointed manager of the teams. The application of J. Brudshaw for the benefits of the insurance scheme was refused, on the grounds that the application was out of order.

A request from the Wellington Schools' Football Association for financial assistance in the coming Southern representative boys' tour was held over till next week.

The boys' management committee reported that the date fixed for the fourth and fifth division Canterbury matches was the Bth September. The fourthgrade match would be played on the Basin Reserve, as a curtain-raiser, and the fifth-grade match would probably be played at Newtown Park. It was also decided to play a Town v. Country gamn on the same date from sixth and seventh division teams.

Owing to the number of representative engagements at present contemplated by the Wellington Association, a request from the Manawatu Association for a match against Wellington at Palmerston North while the Wellington team is on its way to Auckland was not considered

The secretary of the Westland Association wrote, asking whether it would be possible to include Greymouth in the Wellington team's Southern itinerary. It was decided not to visit the West Coast.

In connection with the Southern tour of the 'Wellington senior representative team, the secretary reported that the es. timated cost of the team to Otago and back (playing South Canterbury and Canterbury on the return trip) was £127. As the boat fares had been guaranteed by the Canterbury Association, the cost of the tour from Christchurch to Otago. and back to Christchurch would be ap. proximately £95. Mr. Godber moved that a letter be sent to Otago and South Canterbury Associations asking whnt guarantees they would be prepared to give. As an amendment. Mr. Weir moved that the tour south of Canterbury be declared off. This was lost, and Mr, Godber's motion carried.

On the motion of the chairman it was decided to instruct the selectors to pick the Wellington team to play Auckland for the Brown Shield on the 18th August, aud to proceed with training. It was decided to send twelve players and a manager, the team' to leave Welling, ton on the 16th August.
