Those who stand behind the footlights and those who sit in front of them as well will welcome the good news that the Concert Chamber, of the Town Hall is .-to have a new stage frout shortly, the-work being undertaken as a, part of the'general spring cleaning of the Town Hall Buildings, but it cannot be put in band, for some little time, on account of the heavy bookings during the winter rush season >f dances and concerts. The Conceit Chamber has long deserved something better than its dingy red stage curtain, very sadly worn arid torn by years of use, and its present rickety wood and cardboard proscenium. The work of renovating- the main hall will also be delayed a little longer till the biisy season closes, but a thorough overhaul will then be given it, though it is not', intended to recolour the ceilno- on this occasion, as was done in the Council Chamber with a very marked effect upon the Chamber, though councillors at their last meeting had no remarks to make about the improvement. One of them, in fact, described the Chambers as "a cold old barn"—in the absence of more heat from radiators the work of the early spring cleaner was entirely lost. Upon him. ■ "
