ALLEGED SHEEP-STEALING
THREE WOMEN CHARGED.

BLENHEIM, This Day. Constable Mitchell (Havelock) arrived in Blenheim this morning with three women in- custody, charged with sheep stealing. They hail from Games Bay, Pelorus Sound, and their names .are Paulimena Caroline Campbell, aged 56; Mary Anne Campbell, aged 20; and Irene Frances Campbell, aged 19. Pauliimena Campbell is mother of the two others. The accused, Mrs. Campbell, is a widow, with a fairly large family, ana runs a farm at Games Bay. It is alleged that the two girls stole some sheep belonging to a neighbour named David Stewart; and their mother is charged with receiving the sheep, knowing them to have been stolen. The three accused were remanded to Picton Gaol, to await their trial. It is believed that this is the first occasion in New Zealand in which women have been charged with sheep stealing.
