COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURE
ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual conference of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture was.held at the Farmers' Institute yesterday. Mr. ■J.. D. Hall (HorOfata) presided, and there -were also present about fifty delegates representing the various Agricultural and Pastoral Societies and Breeders' Societies; 'also, members. of the Board, of Agriculture, and the principal officers of the Department of' Agriculture.
.. The annual report of the Board of Agriculture was presented by Sir James Wilson. . The . report stated that the Meat Export Control Act -had now been in operation sufficiently long to "enable a reliable judgment to be formed of its value to the meat producers of the Dominion. It was gratifying to be able to record that the achievements, of, the board had amply justified the Government in placing the measure on. the statute book. The report' clealt' at length with a number' of. questions-af-fecting the primary industries,: including expeviniental- farms,, agricultural'education, disposal of New-Zealand produce in the United Kingdom,, andxNauru; Island phosphate. The ■ report also contains interesting articles by' Sir James Wilson, Mr. W. Perry, Mr. JoHn.Ewan, and Mr. Edwin. Hall oh the. breeding'of Stock. ' "''"'■'•':'.
