A CONFERENCE SUGGESTION.
When speaking on Imperial affairs in the House of Representatives last night, Mr. J. A. Young (Waikato) said he thought it would be a good idea if a junior member of the Ministry accompanied Mr. Massey to the Imperial Conference. He suggested that the Minister of Customs (the Hon. W. Downie Stewart) should go, as he was a keen student of constitutional questions. It should also be considered at the Conference whethere in future it would not be desirable for the-Leader of the Opposition, or the leader' of any other political element in Opposition to a Government,, to be invited to accompany a Prime Minister to Imperial Conferences'. . The experience would be valuable, not only to these members, but to the country. It had te be remembered that no one party had a right to claim a monopoly of lojl alty to the Constitution. Mistrust bred .distrust.
