Ths. annual meeting of the Wellington Auxiliary '■' of , the'•' New Zealand Agency of the British and Foreign Bible Society t was' held last evening in St. Andrew's Schoolroom, and was largely attended. The Right Rev. Bishop Sprott wae,in the chain

The annual report stated that very satisfactory progress had beea made by the local organising secretary, Mrs. F. Porter,, in .establishing branches of the organisation throughout the district. Altogether 23 new branches had been started, and' other branches were in process of formation. It -was hoped eventually to link up the Auckland and Cbnstchurcb Auxiliaries with the .Wellington organisation under a Dominion constitution controlling. the work of tithe Kew Zealand Agency. /This was likely to take place on the forthcoming visit of. Dr. Ritson, senior secretary of the Home Committee.

Thanks to the generosity of a donor, who had given £1000 to enable the work to go on, a complete Maori Bible was m sight. The auxiliary also supported the'effort which, is to.be made to reach the children of the city arid province with 10,000 Testaments.

_ The balance-sheet showed a very satisfactory financial position. Free contributions to ; the society .totalled £1204 6s lid. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.' The appended.report of the New Zealand ( Agency of the society stated that in spite of,the,hard financial conditions Wat had prevailed throughout the Dominion during the past year, the returns showed a marked increase. Last year free contributions totalled £3910 0s lOd an increase- of £861 3s Id. This sum included a legacy of £100 from an old and friend of the society, .Mrs i. A.
