HIS MAJESTY'S.

A house crowded in every part—hundreds were turned away—greeted the new bill submitted at His Majesty's Theatre last night. Heralded by an unprecedented, season in Auckland, the ..bfaffy-and Mo Revue Company promised something out of the ordinary, and tha expectant house. was riot disappointed In Nat Phillips.and Rey Rene the coml pany has two comedians who work together like clock-work. They sing, box. step : dance, and burlesque, and. masquerading .as lords they create more fun, than nas been enjoyed for some time. Their make-up, one as a Jew jn baggy trousers skimpy coat, and ridiculous hat, and the other as a comfortable cream-suited and straw-hatted companion, is laughable to a degree, and they lose no opportunities for.convulsing the audience. The piece chosen as the opening offering, ."■■ Stiff y and Mo as Lordi," is full of catchy music, witty dialogue, dainty dancine and- frocking, and serves also to reintro'duce several .old favourites. The plot itself does not count except to allow, btiffy ond Mo to impersonate two aristocrat who, wishing to test the affections of Major Porter's charming dauchters, - hide their identity.'' Of course, tin ' villains ' are exposed, but all is done mthe right merriment key, and nobody minds the discord. Stiffy and Mo do a neat simultaneous dance, and sing and frivol hilariously. Then there are Major Porter, crusty and irritable, played by Dan-Diinbar; Mrs. Porter, m .which role. Gladys Shaw*" is welcomed ™; _Her former vaudeville partner, Keith Connelly, is.cast.as a gushing, giggling youth, and. he too dances neatly, assisted by the charming ballet.: Peter Brooks, tenor, is . also welcomed back, his song numbers including "Jonah." Destiny," and "My Hero." Miss Dot Dayu 1 sings delightfully "Indiana Home,', . and the whole company offers a concerted number, "Right Man's.Aims." In' Mike Connors and Que'enie Paul ar« two-first'favourites; popular- for their ■o "« W-? r£; MV-Paul'sings "AH By Myself/ Mr: Connors ,'.' Strut,; Miss Lizzie^ and as a duo ."Tuck Me to Sleep. - Their welcome is most sincere.. The ballet features .some- well-known faces, and the girls acquit themselves admirably. The whole of the nonsense is written. and ■ produced' by Mr. Phillips, stage-managed by Mr. ' Dunbar, and dressed by.' Miss E. Moar. A record season is anticipated for the. Stiffy and Mo ' •Company.-. On the vaudeville• side are Owen and Hamilton in quite new num-bers-—good too; Charles O'Mara in song. and- story; the Jubilee Trio;: who create a.furore for their harmony work; Dale arid Barling in song; AnnaVßurke; and the Angel Brothers, whose balancing and posing feat is the marvel of the evening. Mr. Frank OrowtherV Orchestra also deserves a full measure of praise. -
