Auckland; i6th-juiy. : An unusual cage was heard at tha Polic2 Court to-day, when Ruby Alma Jessie Kent, 23 years,of age.;was ohargeil \yith. having stolen £130, the property of her stepfather. The money was Kept in a locked chest, the key being hidden under a mattress.-
In a statement, accused said she used to take small sums at various tiroes, but never'anything like £130, as alleged. Her father, she said, had never given, her any money since Christmas, yet she kept the house going, there being four in the. household. Accused adde,d that she- did not think she" was committing a crime, as the money had gone to meet household.expenses, and hot for herself!' .' ■'.' '.-
Defendant pleaded . not guilty, and was committed for trial. -' '
