• DUNEDIN, 15th July.. - ! John M'Leod, a shepherd, 56 yean of age, and a married man with • a grown-up family, was knocked down and killed at Green Island .by the south express on Saturday evening. ; Deceased took his horEe to Burnsids and was returning to Green Island when the accident occurred.-■-It ■'is believed that deceased was watching a train approaching him and did not: hear-tha express coming up behind. At a formal inquiry opened this afternoon the medical evidence showed 1 that deceased s skull was fractured, tie right arm broken, the tight-leg smashed from the knee downwards, and the foot nearly amputated.
