OTIRA TUNNEL
ARRANGEMENTS FOR OPENING.
Mr. P. R. Climie, organiser of the, Canterbury Progress League, is in Wellington to discuss the details of arrangements in connection with the opening of the Otira. Tuimel on 4th August. It is proposed to adjourne Parliament on the preceding Friday at 5.30 p.m., so that members may catch the Southern steamer. A special train will take them from Lytteltou to Bealey, arriving at the tunnel at 2 o'clock. The visitors will only have two hours at the tunnel, and will then return to Christchurch, where it is proposed to celebrate the occasion with a. banquet. The members will catch the steamer that night for Wellington, returning on -Sunday morning.
