MANAWATU RETAIN SHIELD
PALMERSTON N., 15th July. For the second ,time this season the Manawatu hockey representatives stalled off a challenge for the New Zealand Shield, defeating a formidable Nelson combination by the narrowest margin, the score being one goal each. The holders thus won on a drawn game.The game was played under favourable conditions,- and was-one of ' the best expositons of hockey ever seen here. The scores were made in the second half, by T. Castles (Nelson) and J. Fitt (Manawatu). '
