FAIR. AND FROSTY.
The barometer has risen everywhere in the Dominion except in the vicinity of East Cape, and though fine and cold weather, rules over the Dominion yet scattered showers over the East .Coast this morning showed that a storm area is travelling in the direction of the Ghatham Islands.. Showers were reported as near ' Wellington as Cape Palliser and Castlepoint this morning, and the sky looked very doubtful. Hard frosts were experienced in the South Island last night, and a very cold night generally. The forecast is for moderate to strong easterly winds with 'cold and fair to cloudy weather . generally. ' Passing showers are expected over the East Coast, especially in the. North .Island. Another cold night is anticipated, with frosts inland ' and hard frosts in the South. Twenty-one points of rain have to be added to the total for Wellington for the month, making .117 points for five days out of the six. The barometer has a rising tendency, and another storm area is developing in the Tasman Sea. We may expect the winds to back from east to north, and then increase. If this surmise is correct, confirmation may be expected-on Monday from Press telegrams showing that there is a storm on the coast of New South Wales similar to the one which was experienced about two weeks ago.
