DAYLIGHT SAVING
CHRISTCHURCH SPORTS DELEGATES' PROPOSAL.

CHRISTCHURCH, 4th July There was a very large attendance qt delegates of sports bodies at a meeting convened by tho Beckenham Bowling Club held to-night to discuss the question of daylight saving. . The' following motion was carried' unanimously.— - "That this meeting, representing all summer sports bodies in and around Christchurch and citizens generally urges upon the Government to give effect to legislation introducing, throughout the Dominion, daylight saving, i.e., the putting of the clocks forward one hour on Ist October, and back one hour on 31st March following. This meeting considers such a measure would have a beneficial effect on the health of tho community generally and is in tho interests of economy, and will consequently result in increased efficiency throughout New Zealand."
Representatives of several sports bodies spoke m support, of daylight saving, and the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr "Flesher). stated that a letter had been received from Mr. T. K. Sidey M.P., expressing the opinion that while Mr. Massey was in power it was hopeless to expect even a trial of the proposal in New Zealand.
