, At a meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board yesterday it was decided to apply to the Minister for permission to raise a loan of £15,000 for carrying out improvements at the institutions under the board's control.

It is understood that' a decision has been reached by the Government in regard to the Taratahi Soldiers' Training Farm, and that it will become a farm school in connection with the Chair of Agriculture at Victoria College. Besides students from the college, the school will accept other young men who desire to go through a practical course of farming. ' •■

Mr. J. M. James, of Masterton, has been elected president of the New Zealand Cattle Breeders' Association.

\ Mr. B. Larson, formerly of Pongaroa, has been appointed to the dual position of the secretary to the Pelorus Road Board and the Havelock Town Boarj. An intpr-club shoot was held last night between the Masterton and Greytown Miniature Rifle Clubs, the former winning by 14 points.

The Wairajapa Hospital Board has written off outstanding fees amounting to £5289, including £98 9s lOd, representing amounts unrecovered on account of the 1918 Epidemic Fund.
