Mr. Samuel Gompers, addressing the Wheat Conference, called to consider theserious position of the growers, declared that a union, organised like the labour unions, was the only hope of the American farmer. He decried proposals to resort to Governmental and Legislative cure-alls, and said: "There is no force in our social organisation that won't come to the council table with the farmers, when the latter find a way to combine their strength."
