"THE TOREADOR."
A strong cast has been selected by the Amateur Operatic Society for its season of "The Toreador." which commences at the Grand Opera House' next ■Wednesday. Miss Amy Hyde Woodward as Mrs. Hoppings, Miss Paula bnotlander as Teresa, Miss Violet Reith as Nancy, Miss Madge Shearer as Dora, and Miss Rita Clegg ac Susan, have all congenial role 3. The society has bo^n fortunate in scouring the services of Mr. -A. R. M'Keg-v of • Palmerston North, who scored o brilliant success in the dude part of Archie in the local society's production of "The Toreador" last November. Mr. Alan Fuller as Tommy- Gigg will provide tho comedy. Mr. Ken Luke aa, too. Governor of Villaya. Mr. Charles "Moore as tho Toreador, Mr. C. Moss as reltifor. are only a portion of what should prove a very capable east. The amateurs have been assiduously rehearsing tor the past six weeks under Mr. Thomas E. Foster, producer for the Federated Amateur Societies' of Nev Zealand. Mr. Bernard F. Page will direct the chorus of 70 voices, in addition to n professional orchestra. The box plans open to-morrow morning at The Bristol.
