IN THE BLOOD.
There was once a young man who had a quarrel with his father. In his unfilial rage he seized the old man by the hair and dragged him down three pairs of stairs into the hall, and out of the hall into the road, and along the road for a considerable distance. Despite the rough handling, the greybeard kept silence, until suddenly as they were passing a certain tree he shouted "Stop!" The son, still in a fury, turned round upon the old man, and eaid, "Why should I stop now?" "Because, my son," the veteran replied, "it was to this point I dragged your grandfather when I was a young man."
