FROZEN MEAT PRICES
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from its London Louse, under date 25th May:—"New Zealand Frozen Meat. —Lamb, 10|d per lb (average). Mutton: Wether and maiden ewe, light 7|d per lb, heavy s|d per lb; ewe, light s£d per lb, heavy 4Jd per lb. Improvement in demand." • Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Teport having received the following cablegram from their London house under date 24th May:—" Quotation New Zealand prime crossbred lamb: Canterbury, heavy lO^d, light lid; North Island, heavy 9gd, light lOd. Demand for New Zealand lamb better, market firmer New Zealand prime crossbred mutton: Canterbury, heavy s^-d, light 8d ;' North Island, heavy s^d, light 7£d. Demand for New Zealand mutton runs principally on light weights. Market firm, owing to small arrivals expected. New Zealand prime ox beef, hinds sd, fores 3d. Demand for New Zealand beef active. Market firm, owing to light stocks. G.A.Q. crossbred lamb: Australian, heavy od, light B£d; mutton, heavy 4^d, light sd. Demand for Australian lamb fair. Mutton runs principally on light weights. Market for New Zealand beef unexpectedly advanced owing to temporary shortage of chilled, but do not expect quoted values to be maintained.
