PONEKE AND MARIST TO MEET.

Marist, by their advance last season and success in all matches to date this season, have come to be recognised as worthy rivals of those teams which have fought out the premiership final in recent seasons, and on that account there ia more than usual interest in the Marist-Poneke match to be played at Athletic Park to-morrow. The importance of the event is recognised by both clubs, and the strongest forces available have been prepared for the big clash to-morrow. Wet or fine, the game is likely to be exceedingly keen, Poneke anxious to avert a further loss of chanrpionship points and Marist eager to retain their unbeaten record. Both teams have fine sets of forwards, and in that respect there should be a stirring encounter, but, if conditions are suitable, the backs, too, will be given every op-* portunity to show their worth. It should be one of the best games of the season.

Two good curtain-raisers have been arranged, the third and intermediate Poneke and Berhampore teams, in leading positions in their respective grade 3, being the contestants.

At Newtown Park, Old Boys will meet Oriental, and at Petone the new senior team, Hutt, will try conclusions with the local fifteen, unbeaten to date.
