EMPRESS THEATRE.

"How Women Love," Betty Blythe's latest starring vehicle, which will be screened at the Empress Theatre to-day, dramatically portrays how a woman's beauty may become fatal to her happiness. The ever popular Miss Blythe fills with distinction the role of the young 1 prima donna who arrives in the United States with a voice of wonderful possibilties and a veritable king's ransom in rubies. She finds, as did Helen of Greece, Cleopatra, and Marie Antoinette—all beautiful women who paid terribly for the lure which their beauty created—that true love is head and shoulders above the admiration of selfish, sophisticated men, who have lost all freshness and purity. "Rosa Roma" is, in spite of her outward display of jewellery, quite poor, since a sentimental interest which 'attracts her to the collection precludes her disposing of the heirloom when the necessity arises. As a consequence she becomes involved with a millionaire, who is pleased to finance her musical studies and. gently encourage her efforts from the standpoint of a "philanthropist." In this powerful drama of men, women, and money, Miss Blythe is given the opportunity to wear gorgeous gowns and to again, prove that ehe is one of the "best-looking and bestdressed stars on the screen." The supporting programme includes a first-rate comedy and a news film. A musical treat is promised by the Empress Distinctive Orchestra. The box plan is at The Bristol. ■
