CABPENTIER TO FOEFEIT TO BECKETT.

The " Sporting Life " states that Carpentier will forfeit £500 which he and Beckett deposited in the event of the non-appearance of either for any reason whatsoever. Beckett is prepared to appear on 14th June, the second date fixed. ' Carpentier is not so, and Beck- j ett claims the money, which will be ] paid. If things, had been the other way round, no doubt Carpentier would have claimed the forfeit.
