MAKARA AND HUTT.
In both instances the polling at the Hutt and Makara County elections yesterday was beUrv the average, largely because of the inclemency of the weather. The first count disclosed the following results: — Makara County Council.—Porirua Riding (six vacancies) : Windley, Ernest, 184; Bryant, Lyell, 173; Prosser, David, 154; Nairn, Lionel, 151; Bell. John W., 136; Styles, Samuel, 140; ' M'Mahon, Archibald, 92; Purchase, James, 80. Makara Riding: S. Bowler and H. J. Monaghan elected unopposed. The official recount will take place to-morrow, but will not affect the result, though the positions of candidates may be altered. Hutt County Council.—Epuni Riding (one vacancy): Alexander Campbell 117, W. B. Hardy 58. Mungaroa Riding (two vacancies): John Whiteman 185, W. G. Oard 179, A. J. M'Curdy 134. Wainui-o-mata Riding (one vacancy): H. D. Atkinson 88, G. P. Saunders 85. Horokiwi Riding: W. J. Limbrick elected unopposed. Paekarariki Riding: A. R. Mackay elected unopposed. The official recount was commenced this morning.
