A NEW PROPOSAL
COUNCILLORS AT CHURCH.
The suggestion that the City Council as a body should attend Church on the first Sunday after the installation of Mayor, as is done customarily in England, was made at to-day's council meeting by Councillor F. Meadowcroft.* The Mayor said it was a matter for the council to decide How would they decide the church? A councillor suggested the Church of the Mayor, and another the Church of. England. Mr. Wright thought that the churches of various denominations might be attended in turn. Councillor A. L. Monteith objected to the passing of a resolution upon such a matter. Those wfio wished to go ta church had a perfect right to dto so, but it would be bad procedure to make a resolution, and he therefore strongly objected. The suggestion was declared adopted, but the attendance at service waa understood to be optional, according to th» inclination of councillors. I
