HOSPITAL BOARD
MR, G. SHIRTOLIFFE RESIGNS. Mr. G. Shirtcliffe, -who was elected to the Wellington Hospital Board at the recent elections, has -written to the secretary of the board resigning his position. The grounds for the resignation are that Mr. Shirtcliffe, being a director in Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., is ineligible to serve on. the board while that firm is doing business' with the board, which it has done in the past, and expects to continue to do. Mr. Shirtcliffe considers that he is not acting properly by the shareholders in thus preventing the firm having dealings with the board, and has therefore sent in his resignation, which will come.before the board at its meeting to-morrow. The matter of nominating a member to replace Mr. Shirtcliffe will be in the hands of the Wellington City Council.
