MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when police and indictable cases were heard. Three &»t offenders for drunkenness who did not appear, were _ ordered to forfeit, the amounts of their bail, 10s in each case. John Thomas Fitzgerald, making his fifth appearance for drunkenness, was finedl £3, in default seven days imprisonment. James Rodney Reaidon fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment for assaulting Joseph. James Dixon, and Kathleen Hennessy, who had interfered when the accused was approached by Constable King, was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, foi obstructing the officer.

A further remand for one week was granted in the case of three youths, Donald Campbell, William Daniel Doug'laes, for whom Mr. J. Scott appeared, and George Lester Bolfe, charged with fcrqsbin" and entering the shop of Frank Charles Spiers at Karori, and stealing a razor and shaving brush valued at 10s, £6 iv money, and a quantity of tramway tickets to the value of £13 15s. Bail in each case was fixed in the sum of £100.

PETONE SITTING,

The monthly sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held to-day, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and Mr. D. M. Armstrong, J.P. Gavin C. Allen, for failing to attend drill, was fined 10s and 7s costs.

William, B. Bradford, for riding a motor-cycle in Petone at, a speed exceeding that allowed by the bylaws, was fined £1 and 7s costs.

Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following undefended civil cases:—J. Murray v. D. Kavanajjh, £6 10a, costs 32g 6d; J. Sharp v. A. Mercer, Sil 14s 6d, costs 32s 6d; L. Stewart v. H. L. Jenkins, £9 10s, costs 40s 6d; J. Hyde v. J. P. 0. Stephens, £7 7s lid, costs 17s; 0. F. Priest v. Mary Moore, £42, costs £4 4s. In a defended case, Burns and Sons were given judgment against W. Bates for £2 Ss and costs £2 3s, the claim being for repairs to a cycle-car.
