DISPUTE OVER DEBT
Reserved decision, was given at th# Magistrate's Court yesterday, by Mr.' W. G. Riddell, S.M.. in the civil case in wEioh 0. Robinson and Company proceeded against the separate estates of two married women, F. Allen and M. Middleditch of the firm of Allen and Middleditch, for the reoovery of £149 9s, TsEine me balance of the amount alleged to be due for goods sold and delivered! on or about 18th December last. Th« defendants ha_d notified the plaintiff that! they were unable to pay for the goods and that the line was too large for them to clear, and urged him to take the goods back. "Defendants retained the Roods until Bjh February." said the Magistrate, "when if they had been sure of their position, they could have returned them to his address either on the day o£ their receipt or within a reasonable timet afterwards. I think the weight of evidence is in favour of the plaintiff." Judgment was accordingly entered against the separate estates of the defendant* for the amount olaimed, with' costs amounting to £11 14s. At tha hearing. Mr. G. G. G. Watson, appeared for the defendants, and judgment for ■ the plaintiff was accepted by Mr. B^ Kennedy*
