ADEN'S TRADE IN SKINS
Trade in nkins passing in and out oJ Aden during 1923 Ehowed a considerable increase compared with the previous year, says the "New York Times." The increaso in imports alone amounted to over 640.C00 skins. Among the chief contributors to the large imports were the Red Sea, ports, which sent in 1,876,6C0' skins; Djibouti, which sent in 1,248,740, and Somaliland. The last-named sent 815,780 skins. "As for exports," says a report to the Department of Commerce, "the Unitod ■States was tha chief buyer of goatskins, taking 3,504,120 skins out of a total of 4,251,340 for the entire year 1922, as compared with 2,597,103 pieces in 1921 out of a total export of 3,070,560 pieces. In the sheepskin trade tho United States ranks second, the leadership during both years being retained by Great Britain. In 1922, the United States took almost twice aa many sheepskins from Aden as in the, proceding year, At the present time (March) trade in skins is steady, and although prices have somewhat decreased, they are »till higher than they w«rc in tho boom year, 1919."
