INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Wellington Industrial Association was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. L. T. Watkins presiding.
The question of sending an exhibit to the Netherlands Indies Fair was referred to by a letter from the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand. The correspondence stated that fairs were held both at Bandoeng and Sourabaya, the Sourabaya fair being {he more important. The matter .was left in the hands of the secretary, who was instructed to communicate with the local Dutch Consul.
The Dunedin Manufacturers' Association advised that in connection with the proposed Apprentice and Vocational Bill, as a result of reports made by individual members as to the comprehensive steps being taken' by the New Zealand Employers' Federation, it was finally resolved to leave the matter in that body's hands for attention.
The Dunedin association also requested an expression 'of opinion regarding changing of the exhibition which is being held at Dunedin in 1925-1926 from "Imperial" to "International." After consideration, it was resolved: "That the Wellington Industrial Association would draw attention to the point that the New Zealand industrial exhibitions have been held to promote New Zealand industries, and feels that the exhibiting of goods from all foreign countries will not be in the interests of Empire trade, or local industry in particular."
Mr. G. Finn was appointed the Wellington Association's representative on tho New Zealand Corporation executive at Auckland.
The Marlborough Sheepowners' Industrial Union of Employers sent in notice of resignation from the association.
