ABORTIVE CONFERENCE.

SYDNEY, 7th May. Another conference was held yesterday by the coalminsra and owners to discuss the stoppage of the pits in the Maitland district, New South Wales, but proved abortive, the owners refusing to agree to the men's proposals. The position is now critical.
