PROVING EFFECTIVE
SUGAR BOYCOTT IN AMERICA.

The sugar boycott is proving effective. Sugar is now selling at six cents per lb. Sugar refiners claim that the tariff is responsible for 20 per cent, of the recent increases.
Housewives \ throughout the country were stated recently to b*e organising a boycott for the purpose of lowering the price of sugar, which was being sold retail from ten to twelve cents per lb. The various women's clubs and organisations of New York, Washington, Chicago, Buffalo, and the other principal cities were conducting a series, of mass meetings and a house-to-house canvass in an effort to persuade housekeepers to refrain from buying until . sugar is cheaper.
