The Unionist Association adopted as a candidate Mrs, Philipsqn, : who was formerly Miss Mabel Russell, an . actress, in the by-election caused by the unseating of her husband, a National Liberal. Mrs. Philipson, who is very popular, says her chief,, idea in standing is to try to hold the seat until her husband can contest it again, which is not until this Parliament ceases. She is a Conservative, but-does not think there is much difference between the parties nowadays, except the Labour Party.
