ORGAN RECITAL.
Between two and three hundred people were present at the weekly organ recital of the City Organist (Mr. Bernard F. Page) last evening. • The opening item was the first movement of Beethoven's Pastorale Symphony, a musical impression of the emotions aroused ■in the great composer upon a visit to the v country. A Romance (Op. 118, No. 5), by Brahms, rich in harmonies, and based, upon a delightfully reposeful theme, waa probably the moat appreciated item. The other three numbers on the programme were all played by request—the famous "Dorian"l Fugue in D Minor, of Bach, preceded "by a toccata in the same key; Dvorak's xvell-knowii "Humoreske," which was delicately-played; and the Fantasia (Op. 117), written by .Silas for the opening of the new organ at Blenheim Palaco in 1891, introducing James the Second's March.
The renovations of the Colosseum am proceeding rapidly. The decorations < have been started to-day, and ft is expected that they will be finished at the end of the week. The management hopes to be able to announce the opening date in a few days.
